Adapted from The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush by Andreas Moritz

Cleansing the liver and gallbladder from gallstones is one of the most important and powerful approaches to improving your health. The liver cleanse takes 5 ½ days of easy preparation, followed by 16-20 hours of focus and actual cleansing.

- Malic acid capsules -2 capsules per day (1500-2000 mg per day)
- Epsom salts -4 tablespoons total
- Either fresh grapefruit (pink is best) or fresh lemon and orange combined – Enough to squeeze 3/4 cup of juice
– Extra virgin olive oil (cold- pressed)
– Peppermint essential oil – if feel nausea, open bottle and sniff
– Glass jar with lid
Notes: Look for oral Epsom salts. Some packaging describes it as a natural laxative. If you cannot tolerate grapefruit juice you man use equal amounts of freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice instead. The effect is the same with either choice.

Take two malic acid capsules (1500-2000 mg) with lunch for six days. The malic acid softens the gallstones and liver stones and makes their passage through the bile ducts easy. The old recipe called for apple juice to be drunk throughout the day for six days. It is the malic acid in the apple juice which softens the stones. It is much easier and healthier to just take two malic acid capsules per day.

During the entire week of preparation and cleansing, avoid taking foods or beverages that are cold or chilled. They chill the liver and, thereby, reduce the effectiveness of the cleanse. All foods or beverages would be warm or at least room temperature. To help the liver prepare for the main flush, try to avoid foods from animal source, dairy products and fried food items. Otherwise, eat normal meals, but avoid overeating. Make sure that you are drinking at least 64 ounces of filtered water during these six days. It is important that the body is hydrated. A colonic (colon hydrotherapy session) a day or two prior to the cleanse will help to hydrate the colon.

2:00 P.M. Quit eating food. Water is O.K.
6:00 P.M. Add one tablespoon of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to a 6 ounce glass of filtered water. Drink it. You may take a few sips of water afterwards to get rid of the bitter taste in the mouth, or add a little lemon juice to improve the taste. One of the main actions of Epsom salts is to dilate (widen) the bile ducts, making it easy for the stones to pass. Moreover, it clears out waste that may obstruct the release of the stones.
8:00 P.M. Add one tablespoon to Epsom salts to 6 ounces of filtered water and drink it.
9:30 P.M. If you have not had a bowel movement until now take a water enema. This may trigger a series of bowel movements.
9:45 P.M. Thoroughly wash the grapefruits (or lemons and oranges). Squeeze them by hand and remove the pulp. You will need ¾ cup of juice. Pour the juice and ½ cup of olive oil into a glass jar. Close the jar lid and shake hard, about 20 times until the solution is watery.
10:00 P.M. Be ready for bed. Stand next to your bed and quickly drink the juice and olive oil concoction. LIE DOWN STRAIGHT AWAY! This is essential for helping to release the stones. Turn off the lights and lie flat on your back with 1-2 pillows propping you up. Your head should be higher than your abdomen. If this is uncomfortable, lie on your right side with your knees pulled towards your head. Lie perfectly still for at least 20 minutes and try not to speak. Put your attention on your liver. You may feel the stones traveling along the bile ducts. There won’t be any pain because the magnesium in the Epsom salt keeps the bile duct valves wide open and relaxed, and the bile that is excreted along with the stones keeps the bile ducts well lubricated. Go to sleep if you can. If at any time during the night you feel the urge to have a bowel movement, get up and do so. Check if there are already small gallstones (pea green or tan ones) floating in the toilet. You may feel nauseous during the night and/or in the early morning hours. This is mostly due to a strong, sudden outpouring of stones and toxins from the liver and gallbladder, pushing the oil mixture back into the stomach. Sniffing the peppermint oil will help.

6:00 A.M. Upon awakening, but not before 6:00 A.M., drink another tablespoon of Epsom salts which has been added to 6 ounces of filtered water. Rest, read or meditate. If you are very sleepy, you may go back to bed, although it is best if the body stays in an upright position.
8:00 A.M. Drink another tablespoon of Epsom salts which has been added to 6 ounces of filtered water.
10:00 A.M. You may drink freshly pressed fruit juice at this time. One half hour later you may eat one or two pieces of fresh fruit. One hour later you may eat regular (but light) food. By the evening or the next morning you should be back to normal, and feeling the first signs of improvement. Continue to eat light meals during the following days. Remember, your liver and gallbladder underwent major surgery, albeit without harmful side effects.

Get a colonic (colon hydrotherapy session). This will re-hydrate the colon as the Epsom salts has a dehydrating effect. A colonic also helps to ensure that none of the toxic liver or gallbladder stones finds a home in one of the many pockets which line the colon. It is very important that the toxic stones get all of the way out of the body.

During the morning and, perhaps, afternoon hours after the cleanse you will have a number of watery bowel movements. These initially consist of gallstones mixed with food residue, and then just stones mixed with water. Most of the gallstones and liver stones are pea-green and float in the toilet because they contain bile compounds. The stones can come in different shades of green. The stones come in all sizes, colors and shapes. The light colored stones are the newest. Blackish stones are the oldest. Some are pea-sized or smaller, and others are as big as two or three centimeters in diameter (about 1 inch). There may be dozens and, sometimes, even hundreds of stones (of different sizes and colors) coming out at once.

The important thing to remember is that once you have started cleansing the liver, keep cleansing it until no more stones come out. This will require from 6 to 12 different liver cleanses. They are to be done about one month apart. Keep doing the cleanses until you are getting no more stones out. Then, a liver cleanse once a year is sufficient for maintenance.
